Utah Child Support Calculators
This feature permits you to interactively calculate child support obligations
using the Utah Uniform Child Support Guidelines without the need to install
or download any software. Based on the information entered, a completed
child support worksheet will be calculated and displayed to your computer
screen. If you prefer, though, you can also download
a shareware Utah Child Support Calculator for installation on your computer.
It will run under Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. Click
here to download Information on purchasing a fully functional
child support calculator that calculates and prints all worksheets in the
exact format required by Utah courts is available by clicking
here.
To begin, we must know which child support calculator you wish to use.
Click on the appropriate link to be taken to the designated calculator.
The function and usefulness of each calculator is explained immediately
below its corresponding link.
This is the calculator that is most frequently used in Utah divorce
cases. Most people will want to select this link. The Sole Custody Child
Support Calculator should be used to calculate child support if all of
the parties' children spend more than 75% of the nights each year with
one of the parents (the same parent) and 25% or less of the nights each
year with the other parent. If the standard Utah visitation schedule applies
then this 75%-25% rule is met. If one of the parents is awarded JOINT LEGAL
CUSTODY of the children, but only one of the parents is the primary physical
custodian, then use this calculator.
Use this calculator only in cases where the parties' children spend
more than 25% of the nights each year with each of the parents.
Use this calculator only in cases where one or more of the parties'
children reside principally with one of the parents and one or more of
the parties' other children reside principally with the other parent.
Children in Present Home Calculator
This calculator is only available with the purchase of the Utah Child
Support Calculator. A shareware version of the calculator on CD-Rom
is available free to Utah attorneys. However, anyone can purchase
the calculator. For information on purchasing the Calculator, press
here.
This is not really a separate child support calculator. Instead it is
used to determine the appropriate dollar amount to insert in the other
three calculators in cases where either of the parents has his or her natural
or adopted children living with him or her who are not also children of
this marriage or relationship.
A parent who has children from another relationship who are living with
him or her (and therefore does not pay child support for those children)
is entitled to deduct from his or her income an amount sufficient to reflect
the support he or she gives to those children. This calculator determines
the amount of deduction from income which is then used in the other support
calculators.
For example, suppose Jane Doe and John Doe have a child together, and
Jane is awarded custody of the child. Jane was previously married and had
a child from the prior marriage. She was also awarded custody of the child
from the prior marriage. Jane is entitled to deduct from her income an
amount sufficient to reflect the support she gives to the child from the
previous relationship. The amount of Jane's deduction is calculated using
the Children in Present Home Support Calculator. Once the amount of the
deduction is calculated using the Children in Present Home Support Calculator,
that amount is inserted in the appropriate line of the Sole Custody Child
Support Calculator.
Low Income Child Support Calculator
This calculator is only available with the purchase of the Utah Child
Support Calculator. A shareware version of the calculator on CD-Rom

the calculator. For information on purchasing the Calculator, press

This calculator calculates child support using Utah's Low Income Tables.
These tables and this calculator only apply in cases where the obligor
parents earns less than $1,050.00 per month gross income.
